2 Inch Furnace Filters
2-inch pleated furnace filters for filter racks and return grilles built to hold a 2-inch-deep filter. Choose PureFilters 3-packs in MERV 8, 11 and 13 or FG Aerostar pleated filters, in sizes such as 20x20x2, 16x20x2, 16x25x2 and 20x25x2. Check the depth of your filter slot before you order.

Check the depth first
A 2-inch filter needs a slot or grille about 2 inches deep. A 1-inch filter in a 2-inch slot leaves a gap that lets air bypass the filter, and a 2-inch filter will not fit a 1-inch slot. Read the size on your current filter (for example 20x20x2). It is the nominal size, and the filter itself is slightly smaller; our filter size guide explains the difference.
Why 2 inches?
The extra depth allows more pleated media than a 1-inch filter of the same face size, so a 2-inch filter can generally hold more dust before it clogs. PureFilters 2-inch filters come in MERV 8, 11 and 13. FG Aerostar Series 400 filters are offered in Standard Capacity (MERV 8) and High Capacity (MERV 10) versions, and the FG Aerostar Green Pleat is rated MERV 13.
How often to change it
Many 2-inch filters last somewhat longer than 1-inch filters, often around 2 to 3 months, but it depends on your home. Check it monthly and change it when it looks grey or loaded, or sooner with pets or renovation dust. Need an unusual size such as 21x22x2? Request a custom-size filter.
