How to find the right cartridge filter
Read the model number on the filter tank label. Replacing like for like (same series and the same square footage) keeps your plumbing and pad layout unchanged. If you are upsizing, check the port size and footprint of the new model.

Choosing a filter area
More square footage means more surface to trap dirt, so a larger filter usually runs longer between cleanings. The filter must also be rated for your pump's flow; check the manufacturer's rating or ask a pool professional.
Cleaning and replacing cartridges
Clean the cartridge when pressure rises about 8 to 10 psi above its clean reading: turn off the pump, remove the element and hose it off top to bottom. Replace the cartridge when it no longer cleans up, or the pleats are torn or flattened.
