Choosing a filter area
Replacing like for like, with the same series and square footage, keeps your plumbing and equipment pad unchanged. More square footage gives the filter more surface to trap dirt, so a larger filter usually runs longer between cleanings. The filter must also be rated for your pump's flow; check the manufacturer's rating or ask a pool professional.
Cartridge care
Clean the cartridges when pressure rises about 8 to 10 psi above the clean reading, with the pump off, and replace them when they no longer clean up or the pleats are damaged.
