Pool tool guide: poles, nets and brushes ▾
Telescopic poles
Choose a length that reaches the deepest part of your pool from the deck; the 8 to 16 foot poles suit most residential pools. Check how the pole locks (button lock, or cam/compression lock such as Pentair E-Z Lock) and how attachments connect. Skimlite Dually poles take both outside-thread and internal cam-lock fittings.
Skimmers, rakes and nets
A flat leaf skimmer works well for scooping debris off the surface. A leaf rake has a deep bag for lifting heavier loads of leaves off the bottom. Replacement nets and frames are available for several Pentair models.
Brushes and vacuum heads
Use nylon or poly bristles on vinyl liners and fibreglass; stainless steel bristles are meant for plaster and concrete. Flexible vacuum heads follow curved floors and coves. Check that the head fits your pole and vacuum hose.
Thermometers and chlorine floaters
A floating or sink/float thermometer lets you check water temperature at a glance. A floating chlorine dispenser holds slow-dissolving tablets; use the tablet type the dispenser is made for and take it out of the water while people are swimming.
