Aprilaire E080 FAQs
What is the difference between the Aprilaire E080 and E070 dehumidifiers?
The Aprilaire E080 is the larger unit: Aprilaire rates it at 80 pints per day for homes up to 4,400 square feet, versus 70 pints per day and 2,200 square feet for the E070. The E080 cabinet is 15 x 14 x 26 inches with 10-inch duct collars and a 5881 filter, while the Aprilaire E070 is 12.5 x 12.5 x 25 inches with 8-inch collars and a 5695 filter.
What are the dimensions of the Aprilaire E080 dehumidifier?
The Aprilaire E080 cabinet measures 15 inches high, 14 inches wide and 26 inches long, according to Aprilaire, not counting the duct collars. The unit weighs 63 pounds (81 pounds shipped) and has 10-inch round inlet and outlet collars, so allow room for ductwork and for removing the filter from either side.
How is the Aprilaire E080 dehumidifier installed?
The Aprilaire E080 sits over a floor drain or drains through its 3/4-inch MNPT fitting into tubing or PVC pipe with a constant downward slope to a drain. Level it with the built-in bubble level, and install it in or above a condensate pan if it sits above a finished space. Ducted installs tie into your HVAC system, so have a licensed HVAC technician do them.
What filter does the Aprilaire E080 use and how often should it be cleaned?
The Aprilaire E080 uses the Aprilaire 5881 washable MERV 8 filter, which measures 11-7/8 x 13-1/2 x 7/8 inches. Aprilaire says to check and clean the filter and the drain every 6 months, and the control shows a CLEAN FILTER reminder at that interval. PureFilters carries the Aprilaire 5881 filter as a spare.
What is the difference between the Aprilaire E080 and E080H?
The Aprilaire E080 and E080H are the same 80-pint dehumidifier; the difference is the power connection. The E080 plugs in with an 8-foot power cord, while the E080H is hardwired through a terminal connection and ships without a cord. Capacity, size and filter are otherwise the same, and a hardwired unit should be connected by a licensed electrician.
Which condensate pump works with the Aprilaire E080?
Aprilaire lists its Model 4856 condensate pump as the optional accessory for the E080 when there is no floor drain nearby. It runs on 120 volts and can lift water up to 22 feet, and Aprilaire also offers the Model 5958 bracket to mount the pump. Run the drain line with a constant downward slope to the pump to avoid air locks.
