Choosing an HRV or ERV control ▾
Match the brand and model first
Air exchanger controls are usually brand specific. An Aldes control such as the 611228 timer or 611242-FC multifunction control is made for Aldes units, and Lifebreath 99-series controls are made for Lifebreath units. Check the brand and model on your HRV or ERV label and compare it with the listing.
Which type of control do you need?
- Main wall control: sets speed and mode, often with a built-in dehumidistat (for example Lifebreath 99-DXPL03 or Aldes 611242-FC).
- Timer: a 20/40/60-minute boost button, usually placed in a bathroom or kitchen (Aldes 611228, Vents-US A50, Lifebreath 99-DET01 wired or 99-DET02 wireless).
- Humidistat or sensor: runs the unit based on humidity or CO2 (Aldes 611227, Vents-US HR-S, CO2-1 and CO2-2).
Installation
Some controls are wireless, but most are wired to the unit. Check how many controls your unit supports, and have an HVAC technician handle the wiring if you are unsure.
