Dryer venting from Dundas Jafine, Whirlpool, LG and Primex: ProFlex 4-inch transition duct from 8 to 50 feet, vent kits, periscopes and space saver ducts for tight spots, exterior hoods, and LintEater and ProClean lint removal kits. Measure your duct run and the space behind the dryer first.

Our most popular brands are Dundas Jafine and Whirlpool. For the screen inside the dryer, see dryer lint filters, and for wall and soffit grilles, browse air vent covers.

Dryer vent guide: duct, exterior hoods and cleaning ▾

Connecting the dryer

A transition duct or connector kit runs from the back of the dryer to the wall duct. Where the dryer sits close to the wall, a periscope (such as Whirlpool 4396037RP, 0 to 18 inches) or a Dundas Jafine Space Saver duct takes up less room than a looped flexible duct. Metal duct is generally preferred over plastic or vinyl; keep the run as short and straight as you can and follow your dryer manufacturer's venting instructions. Whirlpool and LG side venting and exhaust kits are listed by part number, so match the part to your dryer's model.

Choosing an exterior hood

Most household dryers use a 4-inch vent. Options include ProGard hoods with a pest guard, ProMax wide mouth hoods, louvered hoods, low-profile wall caps and soffit vents for venting through the eaves. The 5 and 6 inch ProVent hoods and intake caps suit larger duct sizes, so check the diameter before ordering.

Keep the vent clean

Lint that builds up in the duct restricts airflow, makes drying slower and is a fire risk. Clean the vent at least once a year, more often with heavy use, using a LintEater kit or the ProClean drill-powered brush.
