Lennox Y6605 FAQs
Which Lennox PureAir unit does the Y6605 filter fit?
The Lennox Y6605 (Lennox model 100908-11) is the MERV 16 Carbon Clean 16 replacement filter for the Healthy Climate PureAir PCO3-16-16 air purification system, rated for 1,600 CFM. The other PCO3 cabinets take different filters: the PCO3-20-16 uses the Y6604 and the PCO3-14-16 uses the Y6606, so check the model number on your PureAir cabinet before ordering.
What are the actual dimensions of the Lennox Y6605?
The Lennox Y6605 is sold as 16 x 26 x 5, but Lennox lists its actual size as 16-3/8 x 25-1/2 x 4-3/8 inches. Like most 5-inch media filters it is less than 5 inches deep, so order by the part number on your old filter or your PCO3-16-16 cabinet rather than by a tape-measure reading.
Does the Lennox Y6605 filter contain activated carbon?
Yes. Lennox lists the Y6605 as a pleated carbon air filter, the MERV 16 Carbon Clean 16 filter used in the PureAir PCO3-16-16. Lennox says it captures more than 95% of particles 0.3 microns and larger and more than 90% of particles 0.01 microns and larger, while its carbon-coated media helps reduce household odours.
What is the difference between the Lennox Y6605 and X8789?
The Lennox Y6605 and X8789 are both MERV 16 filters with the same 16-3/8 x 25-1/2 x 4-3/8 inch actual size and 1,600 CFM rating, but Lennox lists them for different PureAir generations. The Y6605 is the Carbon Clean 16 filter for the newer PCO3-16-16, while the X8789 is for the original PCO16-28. Order the one Lennox lists for your cabinet.
How often should I replace the Lennox Y6605?
Lennox rates the Y6605 for up to 12 months and recommends replacing it annually with the PCO3-16-16's UVA lamp and PureAir cartridge, but in most homes we recommend replacing it every 3 to 4 months, and sooner with pets, renovation dust or heavy heating and cooling use. Lennox also advises more frequent changes where dust or dirt loads are high.
Which Lennox maintenance kit includes the Y6605 filter?
The Lennox Y6612 annual maintenance kit for the PureAir PCO3-16-16 includes one Y6605 filter, one UVA lamp and one Y6607 PureAir cartridge. Lennox recommends replacing all three every year, so the kit covers a full annual service. Lennox also lists a 4-pack version of the kit, the Y6614.
