Honeywell thermostat guide: voltage, system and features ▾
Low voltage or line voltage
Most furnaces, air conditioners and boilers use a 24V (low voltage) thermostat such as the FocusPRO, T6 Pro or PRO series. Electric baseboard heaters use line voltage (120V or 208/240V) models such as the LineVoltPRO, TH115, T498 and T410. The T827K1017 is for 750mV or 12VDC heating systems. Never connect a low voltage thermostat to a line voltage circuit.
Match your system
Check whether you need heat only or heat/cool. For hydronic zones, check whether your zone valves are normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC): the T822L1000 is listed for NO zone valves, the T87K1015 and T822K1034 for NC. Fan coil units need a fan coil model such as the SuitePRO. Note the wires on your current thermostat before you order.
Features and installation
Non-programmable models hold a set temperature, programmable models follow a schedule, and Wi-Fi models such as the Lyric T6 Pro and Wi-Fi 9000 can be adjusted remotely. Turn off power at the breaker before replacing a thermostat, and use a licensed electrician for line voltage models.
