Find your filter

Your model number is on a label on the vacuum, usually underneath or on the back, and most titles list the models each filter fits (for example UH70120 or SH40220CDI). Many titles show the Hoover part number with and without an XH prefix, such as XH440002094 and 440002094, so search either.

Which filter are you replacing?

  • HEPA exhaust filter: cleans the air leaving the vacuum, as on Air Lift, Air Sprint and WindTunnel T-Series models.
  • Primary dust cup filter: sits in the bin of bagless models such as WindTunnel and Elite Rewind.
  • Secondary or intake filter: protects the motor on canisters such as Futura, Spectrum and WindTunnel.
  • Foam filters: used on stick and hand vacuums such as Linx and TaskVac.

Many bagless Hoovers use a dust cup filter and an exhaust filter, so check which one your manual lists.

Washing

Some dust cup filters are listed as washable (XH304087001, XH303903001). Only wash a filter that is marked washable. Rinse it in cold water without detergent and let it dry completely, usually at least 24 hours, before refitting it; a damp filter can damage the motor or grow mould. Replace other filters when they look clogged or suction drops.
