Humidifier parts guide: finding the right replacement part ▾
Find the part number first
Check the model label on your humidifier, usually on the cover or inside the door, then look up the part in the manual's parts list. Many parts also have the number printed or moulded on them. Parts that look alike often differ between models, so match the number rather than the shape.
Parts that wear out most often
Water distribution trays and tubes, orifices, float valves, strainers and drain pans sit in the water path, so mineral scale builds up on them over time, especially with hard water. Drum-style and fan-powered humidifiers also have motors, drum assemblies and fan blades that can wear. Aprilaire scale control inserts and the HYDRLH hard water maintenance kit are made for homes with hard water.
Before you replace a part
Turn off the water supply and the power to the humidifier and furnace first. Humidistats, current sensing relays and circuit boards connect to 24V or 120V wiring, so use a licensed HVAC technician or electrician if you are not comfortable with the wiring, and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
