How to measure
Floor register sizes refer to the duct opening, not the faceplate. Lift the old register and measure the opening width, then length: a 4" x 10" register fits a 4" x 10" opening. The most common size in this range is 3" x 10", followed by 2-1/4" x 12" and 4" x 10".
Louvres and airflow
Louvered floor registers have a damper you can open or close to adjust airflow to a room. The 2-in-1 pop-up register also works as a deflector to direct air away from furniture or walls.
Choosing a colour
Match the register to your flooring: white, almond and beige suit light floors and carpet, while brown, grey, black, slate grey and pewter suit darker wood, tile or vinyl.
