Find the right part
Start with your pump's make and model, such as Pentair SuperFlo, WhisperFlo or IntelliFlo3, Hayward Super Pump or TriStar, or Jandy FHP. Parts are listed by the pumps they fit, and impellers also by horsepower (for example Pentair STA-101-2807 1HP or PUR-101-2757 for the WhisperFlo 3HP), so check both before ordering.
Replacing a motor
Match the motor nameplate: horsepower, voltage, phase, and the shaft and mounting style. Motors here include 56J C-flange, square flange and threaded shaft designs, from 0.75 HP up to 5 HP. Fitting a new shaft seal when you change a motor is common practice.
Leaks, air and safety
Air in the strainer pot or a drip under the motor often points to a worn lid O-ring or shaft seal, which are low-cost parts to replace first. Turn off power at the breaker before servicing, and have motor wiring and bonding done by a licensed electrician.
