Find your size
Read the size printed on the frame of your current filter, such as 16x25x1. That is the nominal size; the actual filter is usually slightly smaller. See our filter size guide for how to measure.
MERV 8, 11 or 13
MERV 8 handles everyday dust and lint. MERV 11 also traps finer particles such as pet dander. MERV 13 captures finer particles again and is popular in homes with allergies. Higher ratings can restrict airflow on some systems, so check your furnace manual if you are unsure.
How often to change a 1 inch filter
