Vacuum bag guide: match the bag to your vacuum ▾
Find your bag type
Vacuum bags are made for specific machines, so the bag must match your vacuum's model or bag style. Check the label on the vacuum, or the type printed on your old bag, such as Simplicity Type H, Riccar Type Z, Kirby Style 2 or Electrolux CV-2. Many listings name every model they fit, including other brands that share the same bag.
Central vacuum bags
Central vacuum bags fit the power unit in your basement or garage. Look for the power unit brand and model, such as Nutone/Broan SC190, SC300, SC600 or CX450, Beam, Eureka, Kenmore or Vacumaid. Dustlock bags are a multi-ply style made for many central units.
Paper, synthetic or HEPA?
Paper bags are the standard, economical choice. Synthetic and microfibre bags hold fine dust better and are less likely to tear. HEPA bags (such as the Johnny Vac BA1601H or Simplicity SHH-6) add finer filtration, which suits households with allergies.
Commercial vacuums
For Taski Vento and Aero, Dustbane Targa, Ghibli, Sanitaire and Numatic machines, buy by the exact model name, since commercial bags vary in size and collar.
When to change the bag
Change the bag when it is about two thirds to three quarters full, or when suction drops. An overfilled bag reduces airflow and cleaning power.
