Find the right part number
Whirlpool lint screens fit specific dryer models. Check the number printed on the screen frame, or look up your dryer's model number (usually inside the door opening) in the manual. Many current part numbers start with WP or W10/W11. If you also need the slot the screen sits in, look for the lint filter housing, housing cover or housing outlet for your model.
Clean it every load
Remove lint from the screen after every load. If the screen is torn, bent or no longer sits flat, replace it, since lint that gets past it builds up in the dryer and vent. Wash a clogged screen in warm, soapy water if dryer sheet residue builds up, and let it dry fully before putting it back.
