GeneralAire GF4400A FAQs

What replacement pad does the GeneralAire GF4400A use?

The GeneralAire GF4400A uses the GA35 vapor pad (GFI #7902), the same pad supplied in the box. GeneralAire's manual says to replace it at the start of each heating season, and its brochure suggests 1 to 2 times per season. To change it, remove the cover, open the hinged door, lift out the pad assembly, swap the pad and clear any scale from the frame.

Where can the GeneralAire GF4400A be installed?

The GeneralAire GF4400A installs only on a vertical supply plenum of a forced-air system, using a 12-1/8 x 12-5/8 inch opening cut from the supplied template. Leave at least 4 inches clear on the right side and bottom for service, and don't install it where temperatures drop below 0°C or the plenum exceeds 93°C. Have a qualified HVAC technician install it.

What power does the GeneralAire GF4400A need?

The GeneralAire GF4400A is a 120-volt fan-assisted humidifier with a factory-installed 24V transformer, so no separate transformer is needed. GeneralAire's manual gives four wiring options that interlock it with the furnace's call for heat or blower, and the included GFX4 humidistat controls the furnace blower. Have a licensed HVAC technician or electrician wire it.

How much humidity does the GeneralAire GF4400A produce?

The GeneralAire GF4400A is rated at 19 gallons per day at a 120°F plenum temperature and covers homes up to 4,400 sq ft. Its quiet cross-flow fan pushes air through the vapor pad at its warmest point and runs at 48 dB. The cabinet measures 15.75 x 16.63 x 6.75 inches (H x W x D).

What is included with the GeneralAire GF4400A humidifier?

The GeneralAire GF4400A comes with a GA35 vapor pad, a solenoid valve assembly, the GFX4 digital automatic humidistat (GFI #7170), a 1/2-inch push-to-connect valve with shut-off for copper or PEX, 1/4-inch plastic supply tubing, six mounting screws, electrical wire and wire nuts, a mounting template and instructions. A condensate pump, if your drain needs one, is sold separately.
