Lennox X6672 FAQs
What is the difference between the Lennox X6672 and X6670?
The Lennox X6672 and X6670 both fit the HCC16-28 Healthy Climate cabinet at 16 x 25 x 5, but the X6672 (HCF16-16) is a MERV 16 Carbon Clean filter with activated carbon for odours, while the X6670 (HCF16-11) is MERV 11. In Lennox's test data, MERV 16 media captures 95% of 0.3 to 1 micron particles, versus 28% for MERV 11.
What is the difference between the Lennox X6672 and X6675?
The Lennox X6672 and X6675 are both MERV 16 Carbon Clean filters; the difference is size. The X6672 (HCF16-16) is 16 x 25 x 5 for the HCC16-28 cabinet, rated 1,600 CFM, while the X6675 (HCF20-16) is 20 x 25 x 5 for the larger HCC20-28 cabinet, rated 2,000 CFM. Match the cabinet model on your furnace.
Does the Lennox X6672 filter contain activated carbon?
Yes. Lennox describes the X6672 (Healthy Climate HCF16-16) as its Carbon Clean 16 filter, combining MERV 16 media with an odour-removing, coconut activated carbon coated fibre matrix. Lennox says it removes over 95% of particles down to 0.3 micron, needs no power source and no cleaning, and the cartridge slides out of the HCC16-28 cabinet for replacement.
What are the actual dimensions of the Lennox X6672?
The Lennox X6672 is sold as 16 x 25 x 5, but Lennox lists its actual size as 15-3/4 x 24-3/4 x 4-3/8 inches. Like most 5-inch media filters it is less than 5 inches deep, so match the part number on your old filter or your HCC16-28 cabinet rather than a tape-measure reading.
How often should I replace the Lennox X6672?
Lennox says the X6672 cartridge lasts up to one year, but in most homes we recommend replacing it every 3 to 4 months, and sooner with pets, renovation dust or heavy heating and cooling use. Lennox also notes that the number of occupants, pets and home size all affect how long the filter lasts.
